Were people more friendly in past days than today?

Modern ways to communicate with other people have been changed a lot from the past days. In the past days, people should have interacted face to face because there was no such thing as phone or computer. However, these days, people communicate with each other with electronic devices more than actually talking to each other. Some people say that development of technology of communication has only advantages. However, I disagree with it. I believe that people in the past days were much friendlier than nowadays.

           People in the past days had to interact directly with other people. They had to face each other and talk not like these days. These days, people talk through messengers which do not show their face. This leads people easy to tell something that can hurt other people’s feelings. A person tends to reconsider before he/she tell something to someone when they have to tell it in front of someone. People do not take responsible for what they say when they say something anonymous because they know that the other people would not know that they said it.  

           Also, bullies are more active after the development of phones and internet. Many teenagers bully other students through internet or texts because it is easy to contact with the student even if they are not at school. Many students are having hard time from being bullied by their classmates through facebook or texts and that causes a lot of problems these days. Some students even committed suicide from the pain from bullying by their classmates through electronic devices.

           As people interact directly less with each other, people treat other people less kindly because there is less opportunity to be close with other people.  For example, in past days, there were not many supermarkets in town and its size was relatively small to supermarket in these days and this led to people in town to closely interact with the clerk. When they are paying for something, customers tend to talk some random things to clerk, and they become close. Clerk become treat customers more kindly since they are close. On the other hand, many clerks treat customers unkindly in these days. I went to a big supermarket last month, and I asked a clerk where is milk and he answered me very unkindly. If that clerk and I were close, like past days, he would not have behaved like that. He would have been much more kind and friendly.
