Cell phone usage at school

SIS also does not allow students to use cell phones just as most of the other schools. Schools do not allow cell phone usage for students because cell phone distracts students during the lecture and also, it disrupts the whole class. However, students constantly demand permit for cell phone usage saying that there are some situations that they have to use cell phones at school.

I strongly agree to allow students to use cell phones at school under certain circumstances.  For example, students have to use phone in order to call their parents if practice for volleyball is canceled.  Also, students should be able to call their parents when they are sick and need to go to home.  Schools say that they don’t necessarily have to allow cell phone usage at school for those circumstances because students can use school phone.  However, it would save money for school to just allow students to use their own cell phones instead of making them use school phone.

     It is definitely bad thing if a student uses cell phone during class. However, using cell phones during class can be preserved by giving students detention or punishment.  Schools do not have to ban cell phone usage for whole school time because if they tell students to not to use cell phones during class or they will get detentions or punishments, students would not use cell phones during class. Even though they use it during class, the students who used the phones will be the ones who would get educational disadvantage from that, so schools do not have to not allow other students who work hard during class for cell phone usage.

     Other reason that school should allow cell phone usage is that smart phones are sometimes advantageous for academic reason. Whenever students’ laptops do not connect to school’s internet, students can use smart phones’ internet because some students can us 3G or 4G. Also, there are lots of apps that are educationally helpful that students can use for class. For example, there is an app that shows human body parts and functions. That app helped me a lot when I was taking Biology class, especially human anatomy class, at school because that app had some kind of quizzes that I can check what I didn’t know and what I completely understood.

      

 
There are lots of schools that allow students to use laptops at schools but not cell phones. I personally think that this is ridiculous. This does not make sense at all for me because anything that students can do on the phone also can be done on laptop. Laptops can be worse because there are some programs that hide previous page that a person was looking at immediately when they want to. For example, even though a student was playing games during class, that student can easily hide that page when teacher is coming to him/her with one button and lie that he/she was doing research paper. On the other hand, teachers can easily see what students did on their phone because it is hard to erase history of what they did on with their phone quickly. Thus, teachers can check what students have done on their phone if they are suspicious about it.
